On December 9th, Mr. Benson, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Soptelean took 21 8th grade girls to participate in the Northeast Ohio STEM Goes Red Program at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. All of the girls who attended have goals to go into STEM-related fields after graduation.
This event is sponsored by the American Heart Association and addresses the under-representation of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and is designed to inspire young women to pursue rewarding careers in STEM fields.
The girls were exposed to careers in STEM and connected with local females who are leaders in those fields during this all-day, interactive program.
